norcal DJ and Music Production Academy is assembling a promotions team to distribute flyer, posters and other good things throughout the Bay Area and at our own norcalDJMPA sponsored events. Street team promotions could be arranged in trade for classes or for payment. Email streetteam@norcaldjmpa.com for details.

>>_CAN I GET YOUR ADVICE?

I'll be playing in San Antonio, Texas this weekend (Saturday, April 3rd) so this is your heads up for a meet up if you're in that area. And if you know the best places to visit in the San Antonio area, besides the Alamo, let me know. You know, like a BBQ rib buffet.

Also, shoot me your recommendations on spam blocking software that you've tried and enjoyed, or that you have heard works well, because the spam needs to get out of my inbox and I'm not giving up my email address.

I'll trade you this piece of advice in return: If you go to Mount Davidson at night (see Saturday, March 20 post), bring bug spray. Lots of it. Industrial size. Ask the Orkin man out on a date and bring him with you. Whatever you need to do.

>>_HAPPY EQUINOX

Spent the moment of equinox last night at Mount Davidson, the highest point in all of San Francisco. You can't beat the view, day or night. So, make a note to get out there this Spring.

Also, the first Sunset party of the season is this Sunday. I'll be joining hundreds of revelers in Novato to complete this weekend of welcoming Spring! See you out there...

>>_GET REFERENCED

Looking for a strong musician's and DJ's business guide online? Here's the best I've seen: StarPolish.

If that's not enough, browse your local bookstore, there are *so many* DJ & music industry books available now it's wild. In fact, Sister will soon be adding a books section to the website. Until then, I recommend "Guerilla Music Marketing Handbook" by Bob Baker and "How To Be Your Own Publicist" by Jennifer Hatchigan.

>>_SISTER KNOWS HOW TO DJ RIGHT

"How to DJ Right", an incredible instructional book for DJs at all levels by the same authors of the equally amazing "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" includes a short chapter on "How to be a Girl" in which the Sister SF site is mentioned as a reference to check out!

The book has five-star reviews across the board at Amazon.com, and I agree. If you have an Amazon account, log in and view the actual page here.

>>_MAESTRO DOCUMENTARY

Just caught wind of an exciting now documentary on the early years of DJs and dance music, Maestro. The trailer looks amazing, and I already know and respect the clubs featured in this new film. Let's hope it comes to San Francisco very soon.

>>_SFDANCE.ORG WEBSITE AND MAILING LIST RETURNS

SFDance.org, once a strong event announcement mailing list here in SF is back again. Visit the site to join the email list and know what's up, once again.
